If you Pay Taxes or Rent in Owen Sound You Need to See This - Reasons to be Concerned

COST Endorsed Candidate

Joe Carder

Candidate for Owen Sound City Council

I'm running to make City Council more accessible, responsive and accountable
and to be a strong voice for everyday residents.

Owen Sound is my home. I have the time, energy and desire to give back and help make our city an even better place to live. I want Council to focus on the issues people face every day, from property taxes and the cost of living to public safety, local jobs and the future of our downtown.

A strong voice for residents. Clear answers. Responsible decisions.
Joe Carder, candidate for Owen Sound City Council

My Priorities for Owen Sound

Residents deserve value for every municipal dollar, meaningful input into decisions and a City Hall that listens and responds. These are the issues I will focus on.

1

Responsible Spending and Affordable Taxes

Keep property taxes under control and make sure residents receive value for their money. Major spending decisions should be carefully examined, clearly explained and focused on what the community needs.

2

Reliable Infrastructure and Transit

Improve roads, infrastructure and basic city services, while looking for practical ways to make transit more useful and effective for residents.

3

A Safer, More Vibrant Downtown

Work toward a downtown that is cleaner, safer and welcoming to residents, visitors and businesses. Housing, homelessness, addiction and public safety require practical action and cooperation with community partners.

4

Local Business and Jobs

Support local businesses, encourage investment and look for opportunities to attract employers that can strengthen Owen Sound's economy and create local jobs.

5

Families, Youth and Seniors

Support recreation, parks and activities for children and families, while recognizing the needs of seniors and vulnerable residents. Young people should have opportunities to build their future here.

6

Cost of Living and Everyday Concerns

Listen to residents struggling with groceries, housing, mortgages, rent and other rising costs. Explore practical steps the City can take within its role and work with partners where broader solutions are needed.

A City Hall That Listens and Responds

Council should represent the whole community, not just a select few. Homeowners, workers, families, seniors, young people and local business owners all deserve to have their concerns heard and considered.

What You Can Expect from Me

  • Listen carefully to residents and take their concerns seriously.
  • Ask difficult questions when a decision needs more explanation.
  • Do the research and examine the facts before taking a position.
  • Be open and accountable about my views and decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with other councillors and community partners to get results.
Ask me a question. If I don't know the answer right away, I'll look into it, seek informed advice and follow up with you.

A Voice for Everyday Owen Sound Residents

I can't promise to fix every problem, but I can promise to show up, listen, do my homework, speak up, and ask
the uncomfortable questions when I believe a decision may not be in the best interests of Owen Sound residents.

LISTEN        ASK QUESTIONS          GET RESULTS.

Owen Sound is my home, and I want to help build a city we can all continue to take pride in.
